Join us at our Heritage and Nature event at Worting House on Saturday 13 September from 1pm to 4pm

Heritage – This will include talks and displays from Oxford Archaeology, who will share information on the site’s history and their findings to date. The County Archaeologist will discuss the history of Basingstoke and Manydown’s role over this period. Basingstoke Archaeological and Historical Society will also be present to share information on their work in the local area.
Nature – There will be information on the vision and plans for the countryside park. Natural Basingstoke will attend with exhibits for children and offer visitors the chance to learn more about the nature in and around Basingstoke, as well as how they can get involved.
The Charles Butler 400 Foundation will be attending to share the local area’s importance in our understanding of bees and links to Wootton St Lawrence.
A local bird of prey charity is attending, offering attendees the chance to meet Sir Francis Drake, a red-tailed Buzzard. There will also be a talk on the red kites on the site and the important role birds of prey have played in the history of the wider area, including links to The Vyne.
There will be activities for children, including face painting and picture colouring by local artist Sian Storey, inspired by the local area’s natural surroundings.
