Touring Community Facilities
We have been working hard on plans for the first phase of Manydown, which will deliver up to 1,200 homes, the first primary school and the first area of mixed uses. As part of this, we have started to look at options for the community facilities to be delivered here.
To benefit from the experience and knowledge of other local community buildings, we have visited a number of facilities, speaking to managers, staff, and trustees. This has given us a good understanding of local need, current uses and users, and potential opportunities for the future as well as insight into factors contributing to the success of some of these sites compared to others. This understanding supports our strong and growing knowledge of community facilities that we have gained through delivering these facilities on our other sites.
We are really enjoying finding out more about how these individual community facilities operate at the heart of their neighbourhoods and the difference they are making to the lives of residents in Basingstoke.
