Update on activity at Manydown

Recent Activity

There has been plenty of activity behind the scenes, both on-site and in planning, to allow us to carry out the work needed to start development at Manydown.
Providing access to the site, both for construction and for permanent use, is a crucial part of this and that is why we have been working on these two important pieces of work:

Temporary construction access applications
The Master Developer approach to Manydown means that the planning and delivery is split into phases. For the first phase of up to 1,200 homes we will need construction access to the site from the Roman Road and Roman Way initially as this is where the first homes, school and local centre will be built.
We held a community event in March 2022 to respond to residents’ thoughts and concerns. We have now submitted the full planning applications for these two temporary construction access junctions.

Vegetation removal for the first permanent access junctions
We need to remove some of the vegetation (trees and hedgerows) on the site bordering the roadside to enable us to start building the permanent access junctions in due course. The removal work will take place in two locations; on the Roman Road opposite Winklebury Way and along the Worting Road. The timing of this work has taken nesting seasons into account and the project’s ecological team have worked closely with the borough council’s biodiversity team and Natural England to optimize this.
This vegetation removal work should take less than two weeks and we will look to minimise any disruption to traffic on the road.
